About

Growing up, most kids would watch sports and be directly impacted by the way an athlete performed in a game, race, or event. Athletes were somewhat an embodiment of excellence. They showed us what it meant to put your all into something, so much you were considered a professional at it, a master at it. Eventually children become teens and they start to discover more about the world, but they still see greatness when looking upon their favorite athlete performing their craft. Presenting their work ethic motivates youth to strive for that level of excellence whether it may be in sports, academics, career goals, or self improvement. Adulthood brings real world problems and it’s when we see the world economically and politically. You would think that the influence sports has in our lives dies down a little, but adults see a whole other side of athletes and what they contribute towards their communities and our economy. Athletes have influence not only in the sports community but the political community as well. If a certain athlete shares his/her view on an issue, most fans are likely to follow their movement. Athletes have the power of brands and are able to share their message or purpose to the world effectively and efficiently. Their power to impact their community is undeniable because of their social presence and ability contribute to those in need.

Athletes have displayed what it means to represent themselves and their upbringing that got them there. When they succeed they bring with them their struggles and the culture they grew up in. Athletes come from all over the world and have brought their community’s cultural influences with them. It might be LeBron James, who started in a small town in Ohio and joined the NBA straight out of high school, becoming one of best basketball players known in the game. It could be Usain Bolt coming from Jamaica to represent his country and showcase his speed in the Olympics. They are plenty of examples for the upcoming athletes who strive to get to their position and to those who simply want to succeed in life. Adolescence in America now see athletes as superheroes, idols, and role models. They’re examples of distinct success to youth and have showed them what hard work, dedication, and discipline looks like and what it could possibly bring into their lives when practiced.

Welcome! This blog is here to share with you the positive impact our athletes make in our lives as fans, as members of a community,  and the great influence they have on our communities and the culture that it holds. There will be different perspectives, good and bad, shown through resources pulled from articles, videos, and social media posts; resources will be analyzed and critiqued to support the idea of athletes having a positive impact on our lives. Over time this blog will present some resources the support the suggestion of the presence of athletes, especially paid professionals, being a strong positive influence on us and our world. However, the opposition will not be ignored and resources displaying the perspective of negative impacts some may think athletes make will be visited and talked about. Thank you for visiting my blog and enjoy!
